CREEPY Art Journal with Shari Carroll
Welcome, everyone!! Wow, it’s OCTOBER!! I’m in the mood to spook so I’m taking it out on my art journal page. I have a creepy one for you today using some new Tim Holtz Halloween Ideaology. I love putting things together to create something significant.
I’ve used my die-cut circle base, then layered it up with a window frame, a spooky witch, a cracked window, and more.
This year, I’ve been creating pieces for my circle journal using many different techniques. All these ideas can be used for cards or mixed media projects.
To see how todays page came together, check out my video below. Enjoy!

Give ‘Em Pumpkin to Talk About with Nuvo Shimmer Powders – Let’s Get Crafty With Caly!
Hi everyone! It’s Caly Person here today!
I’ve created a colorful fall card using the Pumpkin to Talk About set and played with Nuvo Shimmer Powders. These have been around for several years and I’m totally late to the game with this awesome medium!
I embossed the Pumpkin to Talk About image with gold embossing powder on Distress Watercolor Cardstock and used the Nuvo Shimmer Powder to watercolor each pumpkin. You can’t see it in the photos, but the shimmer in this pigment is beautiful!

There are many methods for using the Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I wet the areas I wanted to color first and then added the powder. I moved the pigment around with a wet brush until I was happy with the look before I moved on to another area.
I also used the pigment powders to color paper before die-cutting the Little Sunflower Bloom and Abundant Leaves.
To finish, I embossed a sentiment over vellum and added it to the enter of the card and adhered the die cuts at the bottom left hand corner of the frame. I hope you like it! ~Caly
