Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be back on the Simon Says Stamp blog to share a card with you all! Today’s card features some of the adorable products from the new Lawn Fawn release.
I used the new Terrific Tulips dies to create a blooming garden of tulips. The tulips are die cut from yellow, grey, and different shades of pink cardstocks to add a variety of colors to the scene. Another way to add variety to the flowers is to have some that are barely blooming (like the red one on the left) and have others fully bloomed (like the pink one on the right).

To create this card, I started by attaching the patterned paper to a white card base and then added the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Frame with double sided foam tape. After that, I added the leaves and stems along the bottom. I left a few of the leaves to stick out along the sides to make it look like the flowers are bursting out of the card. After deciding the placement that I liked, I added the tulips in place with foam tape.
For the sentiment, I used the Scripty Mom die cut out of metallic gold cardstock, and glued that to a piece of vellum cut from the Scripty Mom Outline Add-On. The vellum helps to make the sentiment stand out against the background. The “I Love You” is from the Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment Love stamp set and was white heat embossed onto black cardstock. I trimmed the sentiment into a rectangle and attached it to the card with double sided foam tape.

To finish, I glued a few sequins at the top and used Copic markers to add some details to the flowers. This card turned out so sweet and I can’t wait to give it to my mom!

Creating with Complementary Colors: EZ with CZ

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! Please join me in welcoming special monthly Guest *CZ herself*, Cathy Zielske in the latest of our EZ with CZ blog series! Be sure to watch the video to learn all the details on this pretty card and enjoy!!

For today’s card project, I am using complementary colors to inform the design. Complementary colors are colors that sit exactly across from one another on the color wheel. They have extremely high contrast from one another and they always work as a pair. Today I’m using Lilac and Butter as the base colors for my design.

I chose to use light tones of both yellow and purple for my design, but the complementary relationship is there whether you use bold and bright versions of the colors, or soft and muted tones.

I used the Funky Hearts Stencils to featured these two colors on my card panel. Here is my video where I show it coming together.

My CZ Design I’m Sorry stamps and die were a perfect set for this simple design. I also stamped a simple greeting on the inside, as well.

Pick a pair of complementary colors for your next card project and keep the color choices simple!
