Mixed Media Magic: Craft a Beautiful Floral Heart with Shari Carroll
Love is in the air!! Right? Well my love for Spring is definitely on my mind. I’ve created a small mixed media piece using some Sunny/Valentine’s cardstock colors by die-cutting small flowers and arranging them in a heart shape.
The black painted Vignette box really lets the colors of the flowers pop. This is an easy project to try, especially for beginners, but has the appeal for seasoned crafters.
Want to see how this came together? Check out my video below. Enjoy!

Don’t be afraid to PLAY: Creative Journaling with Amy Tan!
Hi friends! Happy Wednesday! I’m delighted to welcome back special guest Amy Tan (of Amy Tangerine!) to our blog today! She’s sharing a brand new page (and some bonus pages!) showcasing her new stamps and sticker books and MORE with her signature bright and happy palette! Read on to learn more about her process when approaching creative journaling and enjoy!
When it comes to creative journaling, it’s fun to see how the page unfolds using simple techniques. If you’re limited on time and want to try and take on a little challenge, I encourage you to set a timer for 15 or 30 minutes and see what you can create. Also grab 3-5 of your favorite supplies and give yourself space and grace as you play.
Creative Process:
I love the idea of using supplies in ways that might feel tried and true to you, but with a fresh twist. My favorites include watercolors, stickers and stamps. I love layering, so starting off with the base, I grabbed watercolors to make some splotches. While it was drying, I found a film strip that I had printed out last year that I wanted to get into this journal. With a mix of sentiments from stamps and a little bit of writing, I was able to make something that didn’t feel overwhelming, yet had the messages I wanted to convey. It was fun to play around and let the creative juices flow.
